Shipping policy

Domestic Shipping:

Huckleberry Hives ships within Canada using flat rates.  

In some cases, I have to make a trip into town to drop off parcels and may take up to a week to ship out an order to allow for best use of gas milage to accomplish the most tasks per drive. If you require a specific postal service or carrier, please advise in the order notes or via the website contact form and I will do what I can to accommodate you. Otherwise, I will use the best rate/shipping speed that your delivery fee allows me to book and get your order on it's way as quickly as possible!

During any Canada Post strike, I will ship orders exclusively via other carriers.

I prefer to ship using methods that have tracking and/or insurance. Knowing when your package will arrive at it's destination is reassuring and worth the extra cost. Not to mention, this way there is something to follow if a package fails to make it to it's destination. You will receive tracking details as soon as I have booked your shipment and printed the label, but please note that as per above, sometimes I have to make a trip into town to drop off parcels, and this may mean that no tracking data shows for a short time after your receive your notification.

As a small, one-woman business, I simply cannot compete with something like Amazon's shipping rates or speeds. Instead, I do my best to ship orders in a timely manner and apply reduce-reuse-recycle to my shipping: I re-use shipping supplies from my own deliveries and donated boxes and packing materials from community members wherever possible - if you have a collection of boxes, packing paper or other packing materials that you think I could use, please reach out. When using purchased shipping supplies, I choose compostable materials that you can re-use for crafts, compost, or use to ship something of your own! 

In the event that you purchase a candle product that isn't stocked ahead, your candles will be made to order. This means your order may take additional time before shipping out, and you will receive notification of shipping as soon as possible. 

Shipping of Shopify Collective products:

Shopify now offers a unique new service called Shopify Collective, which allows you to purchase items from certain other vendors I've collaborated with directly on my website. These vendors are responsible for shipping out the item(s) you order from them, and their shipping fee will automatically combine at checkout with any shipping fees for products of Huckleberry Hives. The packages will then be shipped out separately from each of us. You'll shop in one spot and pay once, with multiple packages delivered.

Currently, the vendors I work with as part of the Collective are Momma Bear's Quilts, Silver Creek Nursery, and Lowen's Natural Skincare.

International Shipping:

I am happy to provided international shipping, with the exception of the US (currently tarriff and duties situation there is too confusing and adds significant expense to the consumer, making it unviable).  In addition to the information above regarding timing and packaging of shipments, please be aware that international customs and duties are the responsibility of the buyer.
